Robyn chuckled. “I see he’s been his charming self to lots of people.”

“Oh yeah, word is that he got turned down by a party planning company that does kids’ parties with clowns. No one wants to work with him.” Not that I blamed them because I wasn’t going to ever again either.

“What did his team do wrong with the data?” How could he cheap out on that?

Robyn rolled his eyes, frustration radiating from him. “Every question was poorly worded or misleading. He was trying to get sound bites, not facts, and I wasn’t going to go along with that. He actually started talking about what my interviews on the local news shows would look like.”

What?

I had to laugh. “There’s no way you’d have done talk show promos for the guy.”

That wasn’t Robyn.

He was a stand-up person, but in a strong, behind-the-scenes kind of way.

Smiling, Robyn seemed pleased that I’d realized that. “He was having a hard time believing that.”

“He’s an idiot.” My response had Robyn chuckling, but there was a thoughtfulness in his eyes that said he liked my confidence in him.

“He’s an idiot with people around him who keep telling him what he wants to hear.” Robyn snorted, looking frustrated and disappointed in either the asshole or the data; it was hard to decide which. “They completely fucked up the survey and nothing they collected is actually helpful.”

Yep, the data.

He frowned as he continued, reliving the frustration as he vented. “Going over the information was painful, and now he’s claiming he shouldn’t have to pay for my time.”

Ugh, that sucked.

“Gossip says if he turns into too big of an ass, you need to talk to his wife. She controls the purse strings and has all the common sense in the relationship.” I hoped his political aspirations were enough to keep her happy because he had to be hell to live with.

Giving a faint nod, Robyn looked appreciative. “Thank you. I will remember that, but no more about my dramatic morning. How is your meeting looking later?”

“Not as bad as your morning was.” I laughed when he pretended to sigh dramatically. “They’re just very indecisive. Nice and polite, but making decisions is not their strong suit.”

They were basically two subs without a Dom, but since they were playing vanilla, I was supposed to ignore it and pretend everything was normal.

It was painful.

“That sounds terrible.” He shook his head, looking like it was torture just imagining the meeting. “How do you get anything done?”

“Well, in our last two meetings, we’ve gotten about ten percent of the decisions made…so I haven’t figured that out yet.” My response had him laughing as I squirmed.

I was a brat, not a Dom, so dealing with them was difficult.

“I have to figure out how to get them to function or nothing is ever going to get done.” Shaking my head, I poked at his chest. “What would you do, oh great Daddy Dom?”

He barked out a laugh but surprisingly enough took the question seriously. “How about you give them both surveys and ask them what they think their partner wants? Not what they want. Then you can see where they overlap?”

“Oh.” They were sweet enough to each other that might actually work. “That’s…but how do I even begin to set up the questions?”

“That’s the easy part.” Sitting up, he took my hand and gave it a tug as he stood. “Let’s go sit down in my office and we’ll set it up.”

And we were off…it was definitely not the second date I’d envisioned with him, but somehow it was the date we’d both needed. I just hoped our third would be even better…or at the very least, more erotic.

Fingers, toes, and everything else crossed.

I might not be little anymore, but I wasn’t taking any chances.

“You’ve kept me on pins and needles all afternoon.” Robyn’s dramatic tone coming through the phone had me trying not to laugh. He was patient with everything else except work, picking up the phone after only one ring. “How did the meeting go?”

Such a drama queen.

But since he was the drama queen I wanted to submit to after our next date, I wasn’t going to torture him.

“It went great.” Kicking off my shoes, I flopped down on my couch, ignoring the stupid smile I was wearing at just hearing Robyn’s voice.

“The survey worked wonders.” They’d been so busy trying to make their partner happy, neither of them had realized they were actually answering my questions. “We got almost everything decided and in half the time of our last meetings.”

If I’d known it was going to go so smoothly, I’d have tried to arrange our next date for afterward.

Robyn made a very happy sound as he chuckled, pleased with himself. “That’s wonderful. I’m glad I could help.”

He loved being able to come in and help.
